Gum disease is a serious dental issue that can completely destroy your oral health if it’s left untreated. The disease develops when you have poor oral hygiene, when you miss your six month dental appointments, when you use tobacco products, and when you have crooked teeth that are difficult to clean. It is very important to do everything you can to prevent this disease, but sometimes it can sneak up on you. So, our Dental Arts of Frederick team recommends that you watch out for the following symptoms related to gum disease:

· A change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite down
· Gums that bleed easily
· Loose or shifting teeth
· Red, swollen, or tender gums
· Persistent bad breath
· A constant bad taste in your mouth
· Gums that have shriveled away from the teeth
· A change in the way your dentures fit in your mouth

If you have noticed any of these signs, we ask that you please call 301-663-5552 and schedule an appointment with Dr. Kevin Oakes as soon as possible so we can help your smile. We care for you and your oral health, and we are here to help you in any way we can. We look forward to eliminating this horrific disease and saving your smile!
