Here at Dental Arts of Frederick, we work with patients with all kinds of backgrounds. We also work to accommodate those who have special needs and require special care. This includes helping those with illness get the dental care they need, and those born with congenital anomalies receive restorations.

While many people who come in for restorations and other work require no special accommodations, some have preexisting conditions that make procedures potentially more delicate. For example, persons with dementia or other mental illnesses may not understand where they are or why they are being worked on. We can work with and accommodate them in order to provide safe and effective treatment.

Other people require special care in the form of maxillofacial prosthetics. These can be used to reconstruct missing or malformed tissues resultant of congenital birth defects such as cleft palate. Such restorations can greatly improve a person’s quality of life. We can construct these prosthetics right in our office to provide a quicker, customized process. We also utilize a variety of sedation options that are appropriate for patients of all needs and backgrounds. Our staff is carefully trained to be able to respond to any situation and provide quality care to any patient.

We invite you to contact us with any questions you have about special needs procedures and restorations for congenital birth defects. Dr. Kevin Oakes is eager to help everyone get the dental attention they need. Please call our Frederick, MD, office today.
