At Dental Arts of Frederick, we can provide you with a more modern treatment with dental implants.

Learn More About Dental Implants:

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a treatment used to replace missing teeth. They provide an alternative treatment to traditional bridges and dentures. This treatment uses small titanium posts, which are surgically placed into your jawbone. Your bone fuses to the posts as you heal, a gradual process that stabilizes the posts in your jaw, allowing them to hold your replacement teeth securely in place.

Guided Implant Technology

Our guided implant technology works in unison with cone beam 3D imagery to give us a live video overlay not only of your jaw, bone, and teeth but our drilling tools in relation to them. It shows us the exact angle, depth, and placement of every action we take in your mouth in real-time. This gives us the ability to precisely control the placement of every implant procedure we perform.

Different Implants for Different Needs

Dental implants are a unique and versatile treatment. It can be used to meet some different needs.
•  Single tooth implants. A single tooth implant replaces an individual tooth. It uses a single post and crown to replace a single tooth.
•  Multiple teeth implants. Multiple teeth implants, also called implant-supported bridges, are designed to replace two or more missing teeth in a row.
•  Full arch restoration. A full arch restoration replaces an entire arch of missing teeth. A typical full arch restoration uses 6 to 8 implant posts to support an entire arch of replacement teeth.
•  All-on-4. All-on-4 is a full arch restoration that is used when you do not have enough bone mass in your jaw to support the necessary 6 to 8 posts. Instead, this treatment uses only 4 posts, which are to maximize contact with your existing bone mass, avoiding the need for a bone graft.
•  TreFoil. TreFoil is the latest full arch restoration option. Like All-on-4, it allows you to avoid the need for a bone graft. Instead of 4 posts, this treatment uses only 3.

Benefits of Replacing Teeth with Dental Implants

Dental implants provide several significant benefits:
•  They look, feel, and function exactly like your real teeth. Your abilities to eat and speak are perfectly restored.
•  Your smile looks completely natural. There is no telling the difference between your replacement teeth and your real teeth.
•  Your new teeth are supported by the posts, which integrate into your jaw. This prevents pressure on your gums as well as denture sores.
•  Your teeth are held securely in place and will not slip around or fall out.
•  You can brush and floss your dental restorations just like your natural teeth.
•  The posts restore stimulation to your jawbone, stopping and preventing bone loss.

Are There Any Drawbacks to Dental Implants?

While there are several significant benefits associated with dental implants, there are a few drawbacks as well. During your consultation, we go over the benefits and drawbacks to help determine if implants are the best option for you. Drawbacks to implants include:
•  Surgery is required for implant placement.
•  There is a recovery period that can last several weeks to several months.
•  If you do not have enough bone mass in your jaw, you may require a bone graft first, which requires an additional surgery as well as an additional cost.

With dental implants, we can restore the functions of your missing teeth, while also helping to protect the health and strength of your jawbone. Call Dental Arts of Frederick today at 301-732-7277 to schedule your appointment and find out if dental implants are right for you.
